WHY SOLAR ENERGY?

The solar power industry has grown at 20-25% per annum over the past 20 years. Growth rates have increased to greater than 30% in recent years, largely due to governmental subsidies. As the cost per kWh begins to approach the cost per kWh from conventional sources, the growth rate will accelerate and the need for subsidies will disappear. The combination of disruptive thin film solar technology, increasingly expensive fossil fuels, and advancements in packaging materials and technologies is leading to a total rethink about the viability of solar for cost effective power generation.
