Investment consideration
Although the cost for a solar PV system will depend on the size of the system you intend to install, your electricity rate, the amount of kilowatt hours you expect to generate, and the state/local rebates/tax credits(For USA there is a rebate up to 50% check at (http://www.dsireusa.org“) that may be available, the formulas for calculating the returns are pretty much the same. You need to do some math.
Generaly for a household instalation of 1 to 5kWp shall do the work, but we want to go deeper in our research and show you how you are supposed to think when you invest.
If we have to be fair:
The price of the modules is not low enough and it would not be a good investment/improvement for your house. As a seller of green energy with the potential on a later stage to be able to sell green certificates….we are talking business. Let’s face it, small projects have almost the same costs as the bigger ones (we are not talking material wise). All the project documentation and the research will cost the same for a 5kW project and for 100kW. If there is any difference it would not be significant. So:
- small systems - business-wise are not worth it.
- bigger systems usually grid-connected are the ones that are in our interest!
